In October, the Jim Kilroy’s Roxy Bar, long a fixture at 75th and Metcalf, moved to a new location in Shawnee, 13410 W 62nd Terrace-- the northeast corner of Shawnee Mission Parkway and Pflumm. The space was formerly a Twisters Bar and, before that, a Johnny’s Tavern.
It is going through a soft reopening phase currently, and ill have a grand reopening with the Stolen Winnebagos on Fri., Nov. 3. Four Fried Chickens and a Coke will perform on Sat., Nov. 4 at 4pm; the following Sat. at 4 features the Instamatics.
The Roxy is one of the longest running nightclubs and music venues in the Greater Kansas City Area. Featuring live bands, Dj's and independent artists. Pool tables and games. Good bar food and cold beer. Its former location was host to several KCBS IBC competitions over the years and, back in the '90s, had a popular Sunday night blues jam hosted by the BWB Band.
