KCBS Blues Hall of Fame
In 2015 the Kansas City Blues Society Board of Directors established a KCBS Hall of Fame.
Category: Historic
Limited to individuals whose significant contributions began prior to WWII; and
Born or lived in the Kansas City metro area; and
Musician nominees must be rooted in a Blues genre style; and
Non-musicians must have had a significant role in supporting and promoting the genre.
While the other categories may include pre-World War II nominees, this category is specific to them so that historic importance is maintained.
Category: Musician
Be rooted in a Blues genre style; and
Born OR lived in the Kansas City metro area; and
Began playing professionally 20 or more years ago; and
Must have played a significant role in Kansas City’s music scene.
Category: Non-Musician
Non-performing nominees are those that began serving a significant role in supporting and promoting the genre 20 or more years ago; and
Includes but is not limited to club owners, agents, broadcasters (radio or television), historians, media outlets, music stores, promoters, radio stations, sponsors, teachers/educators, venues, artists (sculpture, paintings, and photographs), books/authors, journalists, music publishers, photographers, films, videos, any person involved in the graphic design process, the writing of liner notes, cover art, instructional material and printed or electronic media such as news publications, columns, magazines and websites.
Category: Blues Recording (Song or Album)
To the performer(s) and/or songwriter(s) of a song published and distributed on an album, CD, record, tape, or other audio media. The recording must have made a historical contribution and had an impact and overall influence on Blues in Kansas City or beyond.
