Jon plays guitar and harmonica and sings, and writes songs. He teaches music, too. He does 4 one-week courses every year that are popular. Blues Harmonica Jam Camp. He's stayed busy and has never released a CD before. This is his debut. He included in the package which key of diatonic harp he plays on each song and which position. He can’t stop teaching. His producer played the instruments Jon didn’t, and a handful of guests played their instruments on a song. It's mostly all from two guys. Few...

This band was started in 1991 by Pierre and he is still the harp player and band leader. Every other position has turned over, though. There’s 16 songs and only two are covers. Pierre is also a licensed clinical psychologist. Still has turnover. They’ve also got a female singer who sings on all of Pierre’s songs. The guitar player writes, too, and sings 3 of his songs here. There’s horns on a few numbers.

It's slick, polished and professional. For a band called Mississippi Heat, it could use a...

Sharon is singing songs with topics from her life. She’s a Chicago woman, she’s got a song called "Chicago Woman." The title track, "Grown Ass Woman," she relates to that. She wrote 6 songs and her guitar player wrote 6 songs. She covers BB and Warren Haynes. Oh, and whomever she’s singing to, can’t do half the shit she do. Bingo, another FCC fail.

Sharon has a couple guest artists, Sugar Blue and Joanna Connor, and they both bring it. She has a horn section and a slick sound. Some soul, rhyt...

Let’s get this out of the way first. Popa Chubby!! It’s the greatest stage name ever! Howling Wolf and Muddy Waters, they just didn’t think of it. In my own defense, I’m immature. The legal disclaimer is long and hard to understand, but that’s it in a nutshell. Moving along, one of the nice things in a Popa Chubby record is the variety. He takes different approaches to his playing style and the style of the songs themselves. I don’t expect to ever hear back to back original tribute songs to Wes...

Stormcellar are from Australia and they are the backing band on this CD. The featured artists are the local heroes we all know and love, DC Bellamy, Danny Cox, Joseph Cox, Millage Gilbert, Max Groove, Bob Simmons and Ron Teamer.  They sound great! There are times the vocals from KC sound right and the Aussie vocals do not. I don’t know this came together, that story isn’t told. My favs are the Millage Gilbert numbas. Raw sounding guitar, smooth vocal, got a groove, packs a punch. I could listen...
